Leo Bill appears in the opening scene alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, thus highlighting the importance of Horatio's and Hamlet's friendship in this production. Horatio is seen in this play wearing a backpack, glasses, and tattoos. The tattoos ground the production more in the modern world and Horatio's attire shows that he is one of Hamlet's school friends. Horatio shows up frequently in this production, during the ghost scene, gravedigger scene, and then closing the production. Lyndsey Turner obviously saw the importance of their friendship and therefore kept many of the scenes from the text with Horatio in them.
