Sian Brooke's Ophelia is a soft, meek girl who enjoys taking pictures with her antique camera. She has the camera with her so often it seems as though she hides behind it. Brooke's character neither rebels against her father nor submits to his will. She helps Hamlet behind her fathers back, but she also obeys her father and spys on Hamlet without putting up a fight. The clothing that she wears are usually frilly dresses which gives this Ophelia the sweet/ innocent look to match her child-like wonder represented by the camera.

Hamlet Directed By Lyndsey Turner (2015)

Ophelia (Sian Brooke) is seen here with her vintage camera.

"Sian Brooke's Ophelia, for example, her shoulders hunched inside lacy dresses a half-size too big, projects a girlish fragility from the start that's snapped like a twig by her bereavement."

"Sian Brooke is a genuinely disturbed Ophelia, with an equal devotion to Hamlet and the piano."
